Wonderful! Just wonderful! —G.S. in Washington

It was a privilege to be in the presence of five talented accomplished visionaries as presenters. Each one has a passion for their work and a mission as healers of healthcare. There was an overabundance of information... so I go home with a swirl of ideas, recommendations and concepts. Each objective has the potential for a deep and rich experience and i am grateful for a sampling of this wisdom and a network of amazing nurses to share this wealth.” — L.C. in Oregon

A unique 2010 International Year of the Nurse event — followed by one in 2011— was convened in the scenic southwestern corner of Washington state, USA. Two “Nurturing the Nurse” Workshop Retreats have offered our nursing community a special opportunity to create a healing environment to nurture ourselves, reduce stress, and promote resilience and renewal, personally and professionally.

Workshop Retreat participants explored innovative holistic nursing practices to facilitate the inner mechanisms of healing and nurture the mind, body and spirit. They also experienced and reconnected to the meaning and purpose of the nursing profession. Enjoying experiential learning, using imagery, mindfulness practice, energy healing, yoga and movement, aroma therapy and essential oils, and nutritionally nurturing meals, participants deepened their awareness and personal sense of well being. An extended version of this Workshop Retreat will be offered again at Harmony HIll on September 10-12, 2012. Click here to learn more.

The program also provided clinical skills and tools for nurses to become more effective in their work as educators, clinicians, coaches and guides in diverse healthcare settings including: home care, hospice, hospitals, community health, as educators, and in private practice.

The offering featured a stellar faculty of nursing leaders and practitioners: two AHNA Holistic Nurses of the Year — Dr. Barbara Dossey, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, of NIGH and Susan Luck, RN, BS, MS, HNC, CS, of EarthRose, Past AHNA President, Dr. Lynn Keegan, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, Co-Founders of 2010 International Year of the Nurse & Nightingale Initiative for Global Health (NIGH) Dr. Deva-Marie Beck, PhD, RN and Local Holistic Nursing Leaders and Practioners, Jackie Levin, RN, MS, AHN-BC, CHTP and Joanna Cashman, RN, RYT, MFA, Yoga Faculty at Harmony Hill.
